Trail running is…not aesthetic

You know those super cute Instagram posts featuring perfectly made up young women, in their spotlessly clean, trendy outfits? Turns out, that’s not me.

I recently went for a trail run in Eisenhower Park in San Antonio right after a rainstorm and was reminded that trail running is a very different look. I was so covered in mud that at the end of the run, I took my shoes off and threw a towel over the car seat to avoid getting mud everywhere. And this wasn’t even the muddiest hike or run I’ve done.

I absolutely love trail running (and deeply dislike road running) – so no shade at the girls who look perfect when running, but something tells me they’re not slogging through the same parks that I am.
